TONI BASIL

From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  A multi-talented choreographer, actress and singer.  She began her career as a go-go dancer on the T.A.M.I. show in 1964, and landed roles opposite Jack Nicholson in the cult classics "Easy Rider" & "Five Easy Pieces".  In 1966 she performed the theme song of the movie "Breakaway" which actually made it onto a single.  Toni also appears in other classic films like The Monkees' "Head" and "Pajama Party" with Annette Funicello.  Strangely, she managed to become a minor pop sensation, putting out two albums.  Her only hit "Mickey" is best remembered for its video featuring Toni as a cheerleader.  Today, she still choreographs, acts and resides in Los Angeles and England.  Toni's real name is Antonia Basilotta.  Her most recent prolific work was the choreography on an extremely popular commercial for The Gap clothing store chain which featured swing dancers in khaki pants.  This same commercial also helped trigger the swing revival on a national scale!  She is now a sometimes member of the band Cecilia Noel & The Wild Clams, based in Los Angeles.  1966/1981-83.
