RICHARD BARONE

From Tampa, Florida, now residing in New York City. Besides writing and producing for other artists, the former leader of The Bongos has managed to release a string of brilliant solo CDs. His recent projects include "Bright Lights, Big City", a rock musical, as well as his alternative vision of Handel's "Messiah" which is now performed every Christmas in New York City as "The Downtown Messiah". He has staged many successful rock variety shows and even created a tribute to pop singer Peggy Lee, which played at both Carnegie Hall and The Hollywood Bowl. Barone has reunited with his former Bongos bandmates for reunion shows during the past decade, and is currently recording tracks for an upcoming solo project in collaboration with Bowie/T.Rex producer Tony Visconti. 1987-present.
