DAVID BYRNE

 

 

Born in Dumbarton, Scotland and raised in Baltimore, Maryland.  The leader of Talking Heads for many years, his collaborative efforts with Brian Eno, Robert Wilson, Twyla Tharp and others helped Byrne become recognized by Time magazine as a modern day example of the renaissance man.  Since leaving Talking Heads, Byrne has concentrated on his own record label releases which include many Cuban, Peruvian and Brazilian performers.  His own solo albums have reflected the influences of these Latin groups and unfortunately the public has not embraced them with the same fervor they had for the music of Talking Heads.  With each new solo album, Byrne has wandered further and further away from hit making territory, however in 2002, he had a dance hit when he lent his voice to the song "Lazy" by X-Press 2.  Recent collaborations with Brian Eno and Fatboy Slim have returned David to critical praise.  1981-present.
