BOY GEORGE
From Eltham, Kent, England. Boy George (George O'Dowd) has had a spotty but diverse solo career since the demise of Culture Club. He began his career as a character called Lieutenant Lush, a non-recording member of Bow Wow Wow before forming Culture Club. His solo high point came when he provided the vocals on the theme song to the movie "The Crying Game", a cover of an old song by Gloria Jones. This marked a turning point for George that eventually culminated in the reformation of Culture Club and new success. For the better part of a decade though, George dealt with AIDS rumours, deaths of close friends and a major addiction to heroin. His personal and drug habits found him in trouble with the law more than just a few times. So low did his solo career sink, that one of his albums didn't even get released in his own country. George's solo career will likely continue, during the 90's he became one of Britain's better club DJ's and went on to host a radio show for a few years as well. In 2009, George went to prison on charges of false imprisonment of a male escort! He was released after only four months for good behavior. 1987-present.
