THE BOOMTOWN RATS

From Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. Led by Bob Gelof (vocals) with Jonnie Fingers (keyboards), Garry Roberts (guitar), Pete Briquette (Patrick Cusack)(bass) and Simon Crowe (drums). The name of the band comes from a line in the Woody Guthrie novel "Bound For Glory". The band's original name was Nightlife Thugs. They had a great career in their homeland, topped by Geldof's being knighted by Queen Elizabeth for his efforts in Ethiopian famine relief with the Band-Aid project. 1977-85.
