THE BODYSNATCHERS
From England. Led by Rhoda Dakar (vocals) with Stella Barker (guitar), Sarah Jane Owen (guitar), Miranda Joyce (saxophone), Pennie Leyton (keyboards), Nicky Summers (bass) and sister Jane Summers (drums). A footnote in ska history, The Bodysnatchers were a strong part of the Two Tone movement. Releasing only two singles, they had a hit with the song "Let's Do Rock Steady" which climbed to #22 on the UK charts. The band broke apart with Dakar joining The Special AKA while most of the other members dropped their black and white threads, glammed up and became The Belle Stars. Today Dakar is working on a solo album, Owen has made lectures on fashion at the University of Southern California, Joyce is a make-up artist and Barker entered the corporate world as an events planner. 1980.
