BLOTTO

From Albany, New York. Led by Broadway Blotto (vocals/guitar) with Keith "Cheese Blotto" Stephenson (bass), Bowtie Blotto (guitar), Sergeant Blotto (vocals) and Paul "Lee Harvey Blotto" Rapp (drums). Originally known as The Star Spangled Washboard Band, they made two appearances on the Mike Douglas TV talk show before mutating into Blotto. A bar band with a great sense of humor, they were embraced by early M-TV. They took their similar stage names as a tribute to The Ramones and their mixed up name styles can still be seen in bands like Marilyn Manson today. The band broke up in 1984 but still exist playing out once a year at the annual "Blottoween" festival in Albany. They were also managed at one point by Burt Ward, the former "Robin" from the 1960's TV show "Batman"! Sadly, Cheese Blotto died of a heart condition in 1999 at age 43. After 18 years, Blotto released a new album in 2000. 1979-82/2000.
