BLIND MELON

From Los Angeles, then based in Durham, North Carolina.  Led by Rogers Stevens (guitar) with Brad Smith (bass), Shannon Hoon (vocals), Christopher Thorn (guitar) and Glen Graham (drums). A band of the moment, the unique sounds of this band were shattered after only two releases by the overdose of singer Hoon on October 22, 1995.  While the band vowed to continue on, there had been no new material from them in several years and in March of 1999 they agreed to formally split the band.  Smith and Thorn later formed Unified Theory along with former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen and new vocalist Chris Shinn which lasted for one cd before they split in 2001.  By 2006, the original members reconvened and adopted singer Travis Warren as their new vocalist, first releasing a few songs online and finally a new full length cd in 2008.  After touring and spending time with their new lead singer, the band decided to fire him for drug use on the road, the same thing that killed his predecessor.  1990-96/2006-08.
