ATHENAEUM
From Greensboro, North Carolina. Led by Mark Kano (vocals/guitar) with Alex McKinney (bass), Gary Brewster (guitar) and Nic Brown (drums). The band pronounce their name "ath-ah-nee-um". They named themselves after a Kentucky literary society. Great guitar pop, very reminiscent of The Smithereens in sound. Brewster & Brown left the group in 2001 and were replaced by Mike Garrigan (guitar) and Jeremy Vogt (drums). The band called it a day in 2005, Garrigan and Kano now lead the group "MG4". 1995-2005.
