From Wigan, England. The former leader of The Verve, Ashcroft is a determined and spirited singer whose ambitions split up his group not once but twice. After finally tasting success with The Verve, he was happy to dump his bandmates a second time and go solo. His resulting first solo album caught on in some countries but was conspicuously absent from American airwaves. 2000-present.
