JOAN ARMATRADING
Born on the island of St. Kitts in the West Indies, she was raised in Birmingham, England. A role model to many, this folk singer made a name for herself with pop folk that paved the way for today's many popular female singer/songwriters. After 30 years as a recording artist she remains an illusive figure in music, always coming back just long enough to surprise us and then disappear again when her muse calls her back. 1972-present.
