From New York City.  Fiona Apple McAfee Maggart has made a name quickly in alternative pop.  Much speculation about a troubled childhood and rape experience has been connected to the depth and strength of her lyrics.  When she was accused of being too waiflike, she deliberately gained extra weight to shock all those that thought her to be bulimic or anorexic! As radio drew away from female writer/performers, her popularity quickly waned as well.  Her artistry however should provide a long career for her music.  1996-present.
