TORI AMOS
Born in North Carolina and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Tori's first solo single ("Baltimore") was cut at age 17, a tribute to the city she grew up in. Tori's full name is actually Myra Ellen Amos. Seeking fame and fortune in L.A., she stumbled into a band that featured her name, Y Kant Tori Read? The failure of that band led to a time of revelation for Tori where she found new strength and belief in her music. Her first solo album became a quiet smash that has earned her a huge worldwide following. While she says that she didn't know of Kate Bush's music, Tori is obviously a disciple of Bush's vocal style. Not afraid to try new things, many of her album tracks are remixed into dance floor hits as well. 1988-present.
